The public state of Drug Enforcement Agency, local police & prison guard employees can grow their sphere of influence thanks to "legal" civil rights violations including home invasions and imprisonment of people who grow or trade plants.

Humpday Humor: How CIA Sabotages Torture Report

For years U.S. taxpayers have been trying to find out the truth about the CIA's decade long torture program.  In response CIA agents have attempted to sabotage the public's view into their crimes.

The Huffington Post outlines one of their cover-up tactics:

According to sources familiar with the CIA inspector general report that details the alleged abuses by agency officials, CIA agents impersonated Senate staffers in order to gain access to Senate communications and drafts of the Intelligence Committee investigation. 

Schizophrenia as Explanation for U.S. Policy Toward Syria

7,500 miles separate the cities of Damascus and Los Angeles.  Despite the vast geographical divide the people of each region are tied together via their central state.

To summarize Washington, D.C.'s policy toward Syria:

1. A decade long regime of sanctions prohibiting the people of Syria trading for American made goods.  
2. Two years of supplying automatic weapons to Syria's "moderate Islamic militants" in order to topple the Assad-led state of Syria. 
3. Two week long bombing campaigns in Iraq in order to kill "extremist Islamic militants" (members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria).
4. Newly announced drone surveillance flights over Syria in order to spy on ISIS.   

16 Years Ago the U.S. Starting Bombing Afghanistan

Today marks the 16th anniversary of the initial attempts by the U.S. to kill Osama bin Laden.  In 1998 Mr. Clinton ordered 75 cruise missiles to be launched at Afghanistan and Sudan with the hope that one of them would hit bin Laden.

They missed, he escaped.

21 other people were reported killed by the missiles.

Mr. Clinton explains that there was "compelling evidence that bin Laden...was planning further attacks against...freedom loving people"....

Democracy, Hypocrisy

Nearly a quarter century ago Murray Rothbard wrote* "Why the Intervention in Arabia?".  In it he ponders the contradiction of the U.S. supporting dictators in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia while Washington was claiming to be spreading "democracy":

"Saddam Hussein is a very bad man, the "Butcher of Baghdad." Absolutely, but he was just as much a butcher only the other day when he was our gallant ally against the terrible threat posed to the Gulf by the fanatical Shiites of Iran."

Rothbard continues:

"The fanatical Shiites are still there, by the way, but they--as well as the Dictator of Syria, Hafez Assad, the Butcher of Hama--seem to have been magically transformed into our gallant allies against Saddam Hussein."

Fewer than three years after Kerry and Assad were dining together in Damascus the U.S. began allying with Syria's Muslim Brotherhood to topple Assad and his government.

According to the New York Times funding for Assad's opposition is coming from Turkey, Qatar, U.S. State Department, the C.I.A. and Saudi Arabia.

The victims of regime change in Iraq would ask if this policy of spreading "democracy" is underpinned by hypocrisy?

The Washington Post reports that the U.S. White House inadvertently released the name of a CIA chief based in Afghanistan.  In the small world of "National Security" this is a big no-no.  We are told that the identities of government bureaucrats living off the backs of the taxpayers must be protected.

Fortunately for this CIA guy (or gal) The Post is conspiring with The White House to keep their name hidden from the American Public:

The Post is withholding the name of the CIA officer at the request of Obama administration officials who warned that the officer and his family could be at risk if the name were published. The CIA and the White House declined to comment.

Nothing like a nice transparent state.  Ha, ha.
